Today Sophie and I worked on the design for our fins, along with cutting out all four of the fins. We kept a similar design to our original balsa rocket's fins because we really liked the way that they made the rocket look like one of the cartoon rockets. Also, we kept our idea of doing four fins because it'll help create more surface area on our rocket for the center of thrust and also because it'll help balance out the rocket better during its flight. Sophie and I decided to use balsa wood to make the fins because it'll help keep them lighter. We have to make sure our fins are light because our nozzle is already so light, that if the fins were too heavy it would place the center of mass behind the center of thrust, which would cause the rocket to not fly straight. So since we kept our fins light, hopefully our rocket will fly in a straight manner. Tomorrow we're going to glue the fins to the actual rocket body.
