In class, we have been watching the science fiction movie The Martian. I've watched the movie one time before and had really liked it. Watching it the second time has made me like it even more. It's made me more curious about the science behind the movie and if it is actually pretty realistic. From family and friends, I've heard that the book explains more of the science, especially in Mark's mind, so I'm really interested in reading the book now to hopefully understand some more of what happens in the story. I'm especially curious about the part were Mark has to launch into space from Mars and if someone could actually do that successfully, kind of like he did. For a person who doesn't know a whole lot about the science in this movie, all the science in it seems plausible to me. It's also made me wonder more about how NASA runs their program, even though everything in the movie is fake. I've also been wondering how the makeup crew did one of the opening scenes where Mark has to pull a piece of shrapnel out of his stomach and staple it. All in all, I really like the movie and think they made it very believable for the audience.
