Today Sophie and I worked on making motors to test for our rocket. We ended up making three motors. The first motor we tried to make we ended ruining the core which caused the entire motor to be squished. We did this by not making the aluminum foil for the cap thin enough. For our second motor, we ended up not making the aluminum foil cap as tight as it needed it to be. When we launched the motor to test it, it ended up blowing the cap off, causing the motor to go up a couple feet in the air and then fall down. Our third rocket motor ended up turning out really successful. We made the cap and nozzle really well and had a good amount of rocket fuel in the motor. When we went to launch, the motor ended up flying really well and the cap didn't blow off. We had hoped that both motors would work well, but we're still happy that at least one was successful. Hopefully either tomorrow or next week, Sophie and I can make more motors to test. Once we make several good motors, we can finally test our rocket to make sure it works well.
