To start off week three of Endersession, I visited the store Gypsy Treasure. This is one of the few remaining costume shops in San Diego and one that sells various types of special effects and theater makeup. While there, I restocked on liquid latex, skin wax, fake blood, and sculpting spatulas. I decided to test out the liquid latex that day for my first makeup of the week. I attempted a burn makeup since I've used latex in the past to get this look. In the end, it didn't turn out quite as I was hoping, I went a little too dark with the black in the layer of fake skin. By not succeeding with this makeup, it just reminded me to keep in mind that not every makeup is as successful as others. On Tuesday I used my new skin wax to create a stapled thumb. I played with the different shading of blood in the actual cut and found the new blood I bought to be extremely effective. I liked getting to think about the shading and highlight, like in which places would the blood be darker and in which would it be brighter. Wednesday I was inspired by a well known makeup artist who is most known for her colorful skull makeups. With the one I chose to replicate, I played with different shading and practiced creating precise lines. I also created a subtle beauty makeup that day. I attempted to keep all the makeup light to give it a slightly more natural and less bold look than normal. My makeup on Thursday was inspired by a body painter that was the initial reason I started makeup. I attempted to follow her cracked doll makeup, but also incorporated a little of my own ideas into it. Lastly, on Friday, I tried creating another glam makeup. I focused on trying a technique called the cut crease, something I've never done before. I also wanted to pay attention to how I applied the face makeup to make it look smoother than it's been in the past. I realized after this makeup that I've become a lot more comfortable with applying face makeup, which in the past has never been a strong suit. Throughout the week I've continued observing Face Off, picking up more pieces of information to keep in mind. I've also continued with reading some of Makeup Man.
